This cassette contains a Pcon-araC promoter, an Elowitz RBS (BBa_B0034), the gene acdS which produces the enzyme ACC deaminase, and a terminator. acdS is the gene that encodes for the enzyme ACC deaminase, or 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase. ACC deaminase converts the ethylene precursor, ACC, into ammonia and alpha-ketobutyrate, effectively reducing the amount of ethylene produced.
